Welcome New Southeast Board Members

Jennifer Hicks, CMP, CASE
Please welcome our two newest board members for the 2015 calendar year!

Kathy Dunn-Sullivan, National Sales Executive, ExpoPlus, starting a 3 year term as the Director of Sponsorship

How many years in the hospitality industry and in your current job?
Actually, I’ve not been directly involved in the hospitality industry, but have been involved in trade show producing and planning for 12 years. I’ve been with ExpoPlus for two years.

How did you get started in the industry?
My first role in trade shows and meeting planning was with the Association of Energy Engineers, in 1996. We produced six trade shows per year. I assisted with meeting planning and registration management duties.

How long have you been a PCMA member?
I have been a member since 2013.

How did you become involved in the PCMA Southeast chapter?
I joined PCMA as a National Sales Executive with ExpoPlus. I became involved in our charity volunteer efforts, and also became active as a Sponsorship Committee member.

What made you decide to apply for the board of directors?
I wanted to expand my involvement with the PCMA SE Chapter, and it was a natural progression from my role as a Sponsorship committee member. I knew this role would be challenging, but I firmly believe in the benefits this chapter provides to its members!

What do you look forward to most about serving on the board?
I have a dynamic, talented, wonderful group of people to work with!

What are three things you can’t leave home without when you travel?
My cell phone; my Kindle; my blow dryer (hotel blow dryers aren’t strong enough for my thick hair!)

Charlene Lopez, Sales Manager, National Accounts, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, starting a 3 year term as the Director of Programs

How many years in the hospitality industry and in your current job?
11, 2 in current job

How did you get started in the industry?
Right out of college, my best friend asked me to go hang out with her while she waited in line for a mass interview before a Hyatt resort opening. They asked me to interview, and I accidentally joined the industry.

How long have you been a PCMA member?
3 years

How did you become involved in the PCMA Southeast chapter?
Mike Whittington asked me to become involved.

What made you decide to apply for the board of directors?
I have enjoyed working with the Program Committee, and I have seen what a difference Mike has made during his time as Program Director. I wanted to try to continue the momentum we’ve got going within our committee.

What do you look forward to most about serving on the board?
I look forward to continuing to improve upon the education and get more planners involved with our chapter.

What are three things you can’t leave home without when you travel?
Socks (to avoid icky hotel carpet), Zone bars, and a great book
