The TSA Will Pay You To Help Speed Up Airport Screening — Seriously

By PCMA

Meeting professionals are always traveling. While you may enjoy some type of elite frequent flier status, chances are you still have to deal with the frustration of waiting in a seemingly endless security screening line. Well, today, there is a cause for celebration: the Transportation Security Administration is finally tackling the problem. Even better news? You could win up to $5,000 for submitting a winning solution.

The TSA has partnered with InnoCentive to launch the
“Next Generation Queue Design and Model” competition, and the agency is inviting anyone to submit new approaches that will help separate types of travelers and deliver a more efficient screening process. Rather than combining everyone into the same line, the TSA is looking for a process that will account for the following groups:

  • TSA Pre-Check
  • Standard
  • Premier Passengers (1st class, business class, frequent fliers)
  • Employee and Flight Crews
  • PWD (wheelchair access)

The competition is not limited to just one winning idea. The TSA has committed $15,000, and additional ideas can win $2,500 each.

Remember all the times you muttered to yourself, “Seriously, what is the hold-up?” Or that last occasion when you stood behind a passenger struggling to tear knee-high lace-up boots off to place on the baggage carousel? Now, you can put your annoyance to work. The TSA is accepting ideas through August 15. Click here to learn more about the competition and submit your game-changing idea today.
