The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau (AOCVCB) has named Charles Harris, former vice president of marketing for Luxe Hotels and L.E. Hotels, as senior vice president of marketing. In the newly-created role, Harris will lead strategic destination marketing efforts for Anaheim and Orange County and oversee the marketing, communications and tourism departments. He will also manage the organization’s rebranding efforts.
Global Experience Specialists (GES) has appointed Rob Collins to the position of director of new congress business. Collins joins the company after a career with major organizers Fresh RM and Clarion, where he gained a broad range of experience from launching events, through operational roles to event director.
Daren Kingi is the new senior vice president of sales for Visit Indy, the tourism marketing organization for Indianapolis. He previously was vice president of sales for Marriott International, responsible for a region that included San Francisco, Denver and Seattle.
Jon Hixon is the new vice president of sales at the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau in Texas. He previously was director of sales for the U.S. association market at Tourism Toronto.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail in Vail, Colorado, has appointed Scott Gubrud director of sales and marketing. Gubrud most recently was director of sales and marketing at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa.
Tina Sampson is the new vice president of group sales for Vail Resorts, responsible for the company’s group sales strategy and execution. She previously was senior vice president of event-planning company Maritz Travel. Vail Resorts also hired Debbie Kurtz as director of national accounts, in charge of the East Coast region.
Howard Tanenbaum is the new global director of group and retail sales for Playa Resorts, overseeing the company’s North American meetings and incentive sales team, as well as its retail sales team. He previously was president of Expedia CruiseShipCenters OVC.
Anjie Keegel has been appointed director of sales and marketing at The Belgrave in London. Keegel previously was director of sales and marketing at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow.
Michael Toney is the new vice president of sales at Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino (37,000 sq. ft.) in downtown Las Vegas. He has served in executive sales positions at Las Vegas properties including Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and the soon-to-debut SLS Las Vegas.
Ryan Bunker is the new director of sales and marketing at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort (37,000 sq. ft.) in Tucson, Ariz. He was previously senior sales manager at Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson. The Loews hotel also named Derek McCann general manager.
Sarah McHugh is the new director of catering and events at the JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek (8,400 sq. ft.) in the city’s Cherry Creek North shopping district. She was previously catering sales manager at the Four Seasons Hotel Denver.
Kathleen Warden has been appointed as director of conference sales at the Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) taking over the position vacated by Ben Goedegebuure earlier this year. The news follows the recent announcement that Peter Duthie will take on the role of Chief Executive of the Company. Previously Head of Association Sales at the SECC, the position represents a promotion for Kathleen who has extensive experience in the conference industry. Kathleen will be responsible for leading the growth and development of domestic and international, corporate and association conference business for the SECC.
Eddie Wong has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing for Asia Pacific at Jumeirah Group in Shanghai, China. An Australian national, Mr. Wong has worked in the luxury hotel industry for 19 years and has extensive experience in China and the surrounding region. In previous roles he worked across all major market segments in luxury hotels including the MICE, corporate and leisure markets for Hyatt Hotels, Peninsula Hotels, Renaissance and Ritz-Carlton. Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, he most recently worked at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai as Director of Sales and Marketing.
Four Seasons Hotels has announced the appointment of Vicki Richards as senior director of sales for its UK Collection with immediate effect. In her new role, Richards will oversee all sales activity for the brand’s three UK properties: Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, Four Seasons Hotel London at Canary Wharf and Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane.
