Meet one of our newest members: Wendy Harms. Wendy is the Administrative Director at the Kansas Livestock Association located in Topeka, Kansas. Wendy is heavily involved in association work and is the immediate past president of the Kansas Society of Association Executives. We caught up with Wendy and asked her a little about herself:
What would you consider your proudest professional accomplishment?
Assisting in the passage of two state transportation programs. In my meeting planner career, it is getting sports speakers on a very low budget…my all-time favorite – (Hall of Fame Nebraska Football Coach and Congressman) Dr. Tom Osborne.
How many years in association management?
How did you get started in the hospitality industry?
It was part of my job responsibilities, but little did I know that my TYPE A tendencies of goal setting, details and organization would uncover a love of meeting/event/party planning!
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
I really don’t have one, however, Mexican is my favorite food!
Favorite Vacation spot?
Cruises. You can see with world without taking your luggage to each location! I must say Colorado is up there …something about the mountain air in the summer!
What is something that most people wouldn’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I played basketball in college.
What would we find on your DVR?
Chicago Fire, Downton Abbey, Nashville, Dallas, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five O
What’s on your iPad?
The Bible, All Recipes, Social Media, Pinterest, Wanelo, Houzz, Yelp, Fandango & of course a few games
Regular week end agenda?
What are weekends? We are never home on weekends as our kids play soccer all year long. I am soccer mom all the way on weekends! But when that seldom weekend occurs with nothing to do, we do just that NOTHING!
