Grit Schoenherr in the Spotlight

Grit SchoenherrWhile many attendees at Convening Leaders are regular, year-after-year participants, there are always new faces at PCMA’s biggest annual gathering. In 2013, that crowd included one of the first-ever recipients of the Disney Destinations PCMA Membership Scholarship: Grit Schoenherr.

As the senior conference manager at ICS Events, Schoenherr is always looking for new solutions that can help fuel attendee engagement at the meetings she oversees throughout the year, and she was impressed at the risk-taking in Orlando.

“Experiencing first-hand how PCMA fearlessly tries new ideas and technologies left me feeling inspired, refreshed and ready to get started on my projects this year,” Schoenherr says. “I came back to the office full of excitement and ideas that I presented to our team members who were unable to attend.”

“I particularly liked the idea of a session for first time attendees, which I am now planning to do for one of my own conferences,” Schoenherr adds.

Tackling the Challenges Ahead

While Convening Leaders armed Schoenherr with new insights, she knows that the road ahead includes many uncertainties. Why? Schoenherr is involved in organizing many medical meetings.

“Since I work primarily on medical conferences, my biggest challenge is the introduction of new regulations for pharmaceutical companies and how it affects their ability to support meetings and delegates,” Schoenherr says.

As the Sunshine Act takes hold, Schoenherr recognizes the importance of continuing to attend more face-to-face meetings that will tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

“I know that PCMA will provide the perfect platform for me to network with other likeminded people and to learn more about the newest trends in the industry,” Schoenherr says.
