COLUMBUS, OH (July 27, 2012) – Experience Columbus has hired Dan Williams, former vice president of sales for Positively Cleveland, the Cleveland convention and visitors bureau, to serve as its new senior director of convention sales. Williams will begin his new role at Experience Columbus on Aug. 6.
Williams will be responsible for day-to-day management of the Convention Sales department, including satellite offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. He also will develop short- and long-term sales strategies and coordinate efforts with Columbus hotels and facilities.
“Experience Columbus is excited to have Dan join our organization,” said Brian Ross, vice president of convention sales at Experience Columbus. “We feel that with his background and excellent track record in Cleveland of attracting conventions, meetings and trade shows, he will be a valuable asset to our team. We look forward to having Dan on board to lead our sales efforts and help us reach some ambitious goals we have set for our future.”
Williams worked for six years at Positively Cleveland, from 2006 to the present, rising quickly through the ranks from assistant director of sales to vice president in 2009. Prior to joining Positively Cleveland he served as senior sales manager at OnVantage, Inc. (formerly PlanSoft), the leading provider of technology solutions to the meeting and events industry, where he maintained key accounts such as InterContinental Hotels Group, Disney Resorts and Gaylord Hotels. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, customer recruitment and retention and personnel management.
Williams is a member of Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, American Society of Association Executives, Professional Convention Management Association, Religious Conference Management Association, National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners and National Association of Black Sports Professionals.
