As several wildfires continue to ravage large parts of California, the PCMA Foundation is helping event industry professionals affected by the devastation. Through its Industry Relief Fund, the organization seeks donations that will go directly to individuals in need in California.

The Camp Fire, now considered the deadliest wildfire in California history, has killed 77 people, destroyed more than 10,500 homes and torched an area the size of Chicago since erupting Nov. 8 in Northern California, CNN reports. In Southern California, the Woolsey Fire has swallowed almost 100,000 acres. Across California, at least 80 people have died in wildfires this month.

“As we continue to see the way the fires ravage communities in California, our hearts go out to those impacted,” Meredith Rollins, executive director, PCMA Foundation, said. “PCMA is committed to lending support to members of the business events community affected by this disaster. One hundred percent of funds donated to the Industry Relief Fund are distributed to individuals in our industry.”

For event professionals who live in the United States, donating can be done via smartphone. Simply text 41444 with prefix “RELIEFFUND,” the dollar amount, your first name and last name — e.g., RELIEFFUND 50 Jane Doe. Then, confirm the payment processing via a link.

In the past, the foundation has helped hurricane victims in the events industry. The organization moved into action after Hurricane Florence in September and Hurricanes Harvey and Maria in 2017 all caused catastrophic damage. Since those events, the foundation has contributed more than $24,000 to individuals in the industry.
