WiFi 101—What You Really Need to Know When Planning your Next Event and What is Negotiable?

Do the words "negotiating for WiFi" strike fear into your otherwise brave meeting planning heart? Do you feel inadequately prepared to negotiate for this important meeting component because you do not know enough about it to feel confident? Do you purchase WiFi at events and close your eyes, cross your fingers and just hope it works “good enough”? Join us as we will be discussing some of the basics of WiFi, a WiFi network, what is important and what isn't along with basic questions you should ask when involved in negotiations.

During this session you will learn:
• Learn the basics tenants of WiFi and a WiFi network
• Learn what is important and what isn't in regards to WiFi
• Learn the questions you should ask when negotiating WiFi

Unlocking The Mystery to your Food & Beverage Budget vs. Actual Food Costs

So, you are being tasked to make your food and beverage selections enticing at your event and keep them organic, locally sourced and your budget is less than last years? Does this scenario sound all too familiar in your daily responsibilities? Like many times in this business, it starts with leveraging your relationships and getting properly educated on how food and beverage costs are calculated and where/when the negotiation can occur. Sometimes it is seasonality, sometimes it is the region where the event is located—there can be many factors.

During this session you will learn:
• Current F & B trends for meetings & events
• Why the pricing fluctuates so much and how to work with the caterer to find a win-win solution
• How to keep the your budget down and still remain profitable for the caterer

About our Opening Speaker:
Timothy LaFleur is a 10 year veteran of the meetings and events industry. During that time Tim has done everything from web & mobile app design to full service logistical meeting management. Tim has spent the better half of the last 5 years dedicating himself to mobility and how it is changing the event experience. Additionally Tim has fostered a deep understanding of how Wi-Fi and other technological advanced have become a key negotiation pain point for both facilities and meeting planners alike and has helped bridge the gap between the two sides successfully negotiating, managing and executing events where working Wi-Fi is a must. He has observed and participated in the mobile consumerization phenomena that is sweeping all industries and learned how to leverage it to bring a new experience for attendees and meeting planners alike. Through all of this he has developed a deep understanding of the mobile and Wi-Fi environment and how to leverage it for himself, his colleagues and his clients.
