As the year draws to a close, the Community Services Committee is prepping for one of our last events with the incredible folks at Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly (LBFE). On October 29, we’ll host a vaudeville-themed brunch at the LBFE center in the West Loop. About 100 elders will join us for a delicious meal, warm companionship, and stunning entertainment.
Want to be part of the fun? Here’s how you can help!
To participate or donate:
- Have you been known to pull a rabbit out of a hat? Can you belt a Broadway tune like nobody’s business? If you’ve got a talent to share, don’t be shy! You are invited to spend 5 – 15 minutes demonstrating your gifts to the kind, accepting audience at LBFE. You don’t have to be a traditional vaudeville act – magicians, comedians, singers, jugglers, and performers of all kinds are welcome to participate. Your friends, family, and colleagues can perform too, so please share the invitation with all the stars in your life! Note that the show will take place from 9:00–10:30am on October 29, and performance times are flexible.
- Feeling generous and want to brighten an elder’s day? This is your call for raffle donations. Many of LBFE’s elders live on a fixed income and would be thrilled to receive an unexpected treat. Gift cards valued at $10 - $25 are greatly appreciated, as are restaurant gift certificates and movie passes (some favorites are Target, Walmart, Walgreens, chain restaurants, Dunkin Donuts, grocery stores, department stores, and movie theaters, like AMC). That said, any and all contributions are welcome. For our last event with LBFE, it would be phenomenal to provide every attendee with a parting raffle gift!
