Many venues have realized that offering ‘green meetings’ and a sustainable facility can open doors and attract planners and companies looking to be more environmentally, financially and socially responsible. Enthusiastic marketing and communication teams can slip into ‘greenwashing’ if they are not careful though. Katherine Manfredi, CMM is an accomplished events professional, speaker, trainer and contributing writer.  Since her career launch in marketing at a performing arts center, she has managed hundreds of events for a range of organizations. Drawing upon this diverse experience, she shares knowledge and captivates audiences at regional, national and international industry conferences, workshops and webinars. Her commitment to advancing Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) shines through as an MPI (Meeting Professionals International) Platinum Speaker, Accredited Trainer for MPI’s Global Certification in Business Meetings & Events program, and Approved GMIC (Green Meeting Industry Council) Trainer for the APEX/ASTM Environmentally Sustainable Event Standards. 

Katherine is currently Advisor to the US Green Building Council (USGBC) Hospitality Advocacy Committee; MPI Business Panel Member; and Education Committee Member for MPI South Florida Chapter. She has also been Global Board Drector for GMIC; Conference Co-Chair, GMIC Sustainable Meetings Conference 2012 & Program Chair for 2013; Co-founder, GMIC Florida/Caribbean Chapter; an MPI Representative for ISO 20121 Sustainable Event Standard Development; MPI Steering Committee Member and Chair, Green Initiatives & CSR for SEC, a four-chapter annual MPI conference and trade show; Board Member for GMIC Florida/Caribbean Chapter; and Judge for the Prevue Visionary Awards. She is Senior Director, Strategic Event Management & CSR with Conference Partners, Inc. and a contributing writer for several industry publications. Katherine holds a CMM (Global Certification in Strategic Meetings Management), a BA Honours, and is earning an MBA, Sustainability.
