Holiday Showcase is entering its 25th year as the Midwest's No. 1 meeting sites and business services exposition! This 1-day event consistently delivers quality learning programs, memorable networking experiences, and an array of services and suppliers who understand the unique needs of meetings, conventions and association business services.
In a single day, Holiday Showcase attendees can experience customized education and unsurpassed networking, hear from a nationally-known expert on organizational management, and visit with nearly 700 Holiday Showcase exhibitors that include top destinations, highly-rated properties, and essential business services that every association and meeting professional needs. The day will begin with essential education in the morning, followed by lunch and keynote speaker Chester Elton, the exhibition, and —back by popular demand — the Holiday Happy Hour.
Holiday Showcase education has always been highly rated and well attended, and this year’s sessions are ideal (and a real bargain at only $99) for meeting planners. You’ll learn how to help your presenters be better prepared for your meetings, you’ll hear from one association how they successfully integrated their education and exhibition, and you’ll be entertained and informed by popular Holiday Showcase presenter and improv extraordinaire Richard Oberbruner.
In addition, nonprofit attorney Lisa Stegink of Chicago Law Partners will go beyond the adversarial relationship and emotion of contracts in “Back to Basics: Negotiating Meeting Contracts” by explaining the underlying legal concepts that apply to both parties. Armed with this knowledge, planners will better understand what and when to negotiate to meet their organizations’ goals. This session issponsored by Niagara Falls.
GMC members may remember Tony Chen, formerly of HFMA, a very popular presenter at previous chapter meetings and at Convening Leaders. Tony’s session, “Strategies for Incorporating Corporate Social ResponsibilityInto Your Events,” will expand your understanding of corporate social responsibility and provide tactics that you can use now. When implemented successfully, CSR, can create a unique and meaningful experience your attendees can share, which will enhance their experience, increase brand loyalty, and attract new audiences to your events.
Are you using your Convention and Visitors Bureau partners to your advantage? Do you have a full understanding of the array of services they can provide? Join a panel of GMC member planners (Jim Goodman, American Dental Association, and Jenna Cummins, Society of Gynecologic Oncology)and CVB partners (Doug Dvorak, Ft. Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Donna Bongiovanni, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, plus Terri Roberts from DMAI) as they dig deeper into what happens before, during and after the contract is signed, and the many ways that CVBs can serve as an extension of your team at the time you need it most.
These are just a few of the 16 sessions offered in the morning at Holiday Showcase. Other education opportunities include Solutions Sessions on event technology, mobile apps and a “floorplanfaceoff” between exhibit floorplan software providers, and member communities.
The Holiday Showcase Exhibit Hall, also at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, will be open from 1 – 5 p.m. Visitors to the show floor will experience nearly 700 exhibiting companies showcasing top destinations and event spaces along with the business service suppliers that are essential for every meeting planner and association professional.
When the exhibit hall closes, the conversation continues during the second annual Association Forum Holiday Showcase Happy Hour, from 5 to 7 p.m. This festive event features a cash bar, passed hors d’oeuvres and is considered the premier opportunity for finalizing business and catching up to toast the holiday season.
