As a lawn, the green roof of the new Vancouver Convention Centre is kind of a mess.

But the roof, even though it’s been getting its annual mowing for the last week or so, is more of a natural landscape than a lawn.

And that 2.4 hectare natural landscape of 400,000 indigenous plants and grasses is doing a great job as a living roof that insulates the convention centre, said assistant general manager Craig Lehto.More
