On Friday, December 7, a group of NYPCMA Chapter volunteers headed out to Olympia Boulevard, Staten Island to help a community devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
Six weeks after the super storm leveled much of the Tri-state area, many residents are still trying to repair their homes and find some normalcy as the holidays arrive. The team of volunteers ventured out from the New York Hilton and arrived at the Occupy Sandy community center in Staten Island. Working with other volunteers-some who were local and others from as far away as Colorado-the Chapter Team wrapped presents for neighborhood children, sorted donations, and moved debris and fencing for a Staten Island homeowner.
Thanks to the many individual and hotel supporters, including Caesars, who contributed non-perishable food, personal hygiene supplies, cash donations, and toys to the effort! Additional thanks to our NYCPMA chapter volunteers who spent their day helping others in their time of need.
