Smart design, smarter meetings

Mohegan Sun has evolved into one of the largest and most distinctive resort destinations for entertainment, gaming, shopping, and meetings in the United States, but in many ways the 185-acre property has stayed true to the heritage of its owners, the Mohegan Tribe. Inspired by tribal lore and the surrounding New England landscape, Mohegan Sun’s exterior and interior design have artfully captured the essence of its native culture and land.

Mohegan Sun’s 34-story hotel tower pays homage to many of the natural habitats and materials found on the riverfront property. The smoky quartz crystal the Mohegans once used to fashion arrowheads served as inspiration for the structure’s crystalline-like exterior, while inside, the lobby’s “forest” of trees, rocks, and water mimic the surrounding woodlands.

Mohegan Sun’s intelligently designed spaces don’t end in the lobby. Developed with input from an advisory board of meeting planners, the hotel’s more than 100,000 square feet of high-tech, flexible meeting space includes the 38,000-square-foot Uncas Ballroom, 30,000 square feet of exhibit space, and 30-plus breakout rooms. From galas to exhibitions, any type of event is possible at Mohegan Sun. Guest rooms have been laid out with the business traveler in mind as well. All 1,175 rooms start at 450 square feet and include thoughtful details like fine linens and full-sized work areas complete with ergonomic chairs.

After the meetings conclude, Mohegan Sun’s diversity of leisure-time options will pique every interest. Groups can get their game on in one of three casinos that add up to 300,000 total square feet, or relax at the full-service Elemis Spa. And group outings at the newly renovated 18-hole course at Mohegan Sun Country Club at Pautipaug are always a hole-in-one experience.
