The Godfrey Hotel Chicago - February 1, 2014
Located adjacent to the Hotel Felix in Chicago's River North neighborhood, this 16-story, 221 key upscale boutique opened February 1, featuring stunning architecture and a stylish overall interior. The space comes complete with 189 rooms and 39 suites, 24-hour fitness center and a 15,000 square-foot rooftop bar and lounge called the IO Urban Roofscape.
The IO Urban Roofscape indoor-outdoor lounge and meeting space offers the largest 12-month outdoor lounge and bar space in Chicago. IO can host events ranging from small meetings to receptions of up to 1,500 guests. With a menu simply inspired by Chicago favorite brews and sliders, IO includes an indoor waterfall, a two-story outdoor fire pit and a video wall to showcase Chicago sports.
Hotel Sax to Become Hotel Chicago - Early 2014
Hotel Sax Chicago is becoming the first Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel in Chicago, called Hotel Chicago. This centrally located and meeting-centric hotel in River North is transitioning to Marriot early this year.
The Kinzie Hotel - February 2014
The Kinzie Hotel (20 West Kinzie Street) officially opened in the space that previously housed the Amalfi Hotel. The five story, 215-room, upscale boutique hotel's multi-million dollar renovation boasts a timeless contemporary look and new image that pays tribute to John Kinzie, an untamed man who made a historical stamp on Chicago throughout the 19th century.
Hotel Indigo Chicago - Millennium Park - Spring 2014
U.K.-based InterContinental Hotel Groups PLC announced a new 156-room hotel located on Michigan Avenue just north of Millennium Park. An estimated $20 million renovation will include adding additional floors, a rooftop bar, state-of-the-art accommodation space and 8,000 square-foot multilevel restaurant.
Avenue Crown Plaza Chicago to Become Two Hilton Properties - July 2014
The Avenue Crown Plaza Chicago is undergoing renovations and will become a Hilton hotel under two names:
• Hampton Inn & Suites Magnificent Mile - 230 rooms
• Homewood Suites Magnificent Mile - 120 rooms
Renovations are estimated to be complete in July 2014. The hotel remains open as Avenue Crown Plaza Chicago until then. The new lobby will have separate check-in desks for both hotels (similar to Springhill & Residence Inn River North). However, there will be Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites sleeping rooms on each floor. For conventions, they will primarily contract Hampton Inn rooms.
SOHO House Hotel - August 2014
The West Loop's Fulton Market district will welcome the exclusive members-only SOHO House. The six-story, 35-room hotel will include a full-sized pool, spa, rooftop bar and three open-to-the-public restaurants: London-based Pizza East, a burger join and a chicken concept - both with a British twist.
12. S Michigan Ave. Project - Fall 2014
A joint venture between Chicago-based AJ Capital Partners LLC and San Francisco-based Geolo Capital have begun demolition inside the former Chicago Athletic Association landmark buildings at 12 S. Michigan Ave. and 71 E. Madison St. and plan to finish construction of a 240-room hotel in fall 2014.
Virgin Hotel Chicago - Fall 2014
Located one block off Michigan Avenue, the historic art deco Dearborn Bank Building features 250 rooms with a vibe that follows the hip, fresh brand created by Sir Richard Branson. The hotel will offer two restaurants.
