The PCMA Education Foundation is excited to recognize Maureen Beck, most recently an Account Manager at Select Meeting Sites, as the recipient of the Disney Destinations PCMA Education Foundation scholarship. Maureen’s scholarship was awarded not only based on her years of commitment, participation and dedication in the Chicagoland meetings community, but her application as well. She expressed her desire to be active in the Greater Midwest Chapter, the value of the educational opportunities PCMA represents and her spirit of volunteerism within the industry.
The GMC PCMA looks forward to welcoming her as a new Chapter member.
“The first time I attended a GMC PCMA event, I was impressed by the caliber of both the educational material and of the presenters,” Maureen said. “Subsequent events, both educational and social, have reinforced that positive first impression. When I read about the Disney Destinations Scholarship, I was anxious to apply. I have wanted to be a part of PCMA for a long time. The education and networking that I have enjoyed as a long-standing member of one of the other industry associations have taught me the essential role of associations and the power of meetings. When I learned that I had been chosen, I was excited that I will be a part of the Magic of PCMA. Now I just have to figure out which committee to join; I have a lot to contribute and a lot to learn. Any suggestions?”
Maureen has a history of paying it forward. For several years she has done literacy outreach by providing books to jails. Many of these female inmates use their time in jail to improve their academic skills. She has also volunteered at St. Hubert’s Job Ministry, assisting professionals in transition.
