PCMA to work with Community Coaching Center, Family Health Centers of San Diego, Monarch, Rachel's House and Tomorrow Project
SAN DIEGO, CA, January 3, 2012 - Several San Diego charities will benefit from the hands-on work, talents, donations and fundraising efforts of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) members, partners and sponsors attending the 56th PCMA annual meeting, Convening Leaders, in San Diego, January, 8-11, 2012.
Hospitality Helping Hands:
Community Coaching Center and Family Health Centers of San Diego
PCMA's Hospitality Helping Hands (HHH) program, sponsored by Experient and Marriott Innovention Network, will take place on Sunday, January 8. At this popular program Convening Leaders attendees choose to participate in one of two hands-on community service projects. 100 percent of each participant's $75 USD registration fee will go directly to the charities. HHH is a Network for the Needy® program, sponsored in part by Founding and Principal sponsor Global Experience Specialists (GES).
Community Coaching Center is a nonprofit after school, Saturday, and school break community-based, social behavior development program for children and adolescents diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
PCMA will be sanding and painting the building exterior along with some minor indoor painting and shelf assembly.. Additionally the volunteers will paint an adjunct mural (continuation of a current mural) that has been design by a local artist for the outdoor activity area.
Family Health Centers of San Diego is a community health center with a mission to provide caring, affordable, high quality healthcare and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low income and medically underserved persons.
PCMA will be assembling personal hygiene kits and baby baskets to be given to San Diego homeless and local young mothers in need; helping the organization to build trust with the community and supporting them and their families.
Annual Giving Campaign: San Diego Monarch School
Individual contributions made during Convening Leaders to the PCMA Education Foundation will not only support education, research and scholarship initiatives, but will also benefit San Diego's Monarch School, whose mission is to educate students impacted by homelessness and to help them develop hope for the future with the necessary skills and experiences for personal success.
As a demonstration of their conviction and commitment to the PCMA Education Foundation, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts will be matching all donations made in San Diego up to $10,000.
Party With a Purpose - Reality Changers
Proceeds from the 19th annual Party With a Purpose (PWAP) will benefit San Diego's Reality Changers - a non-profit group dedicated to providing inner-city youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, with the resources to become first generation college students by supplying academic support, financial assistance, and leadership training. Party With a Purpose is the premiere fundraising event of the meeting and convention industry, having raised more than $1.8 million dollars. This event also supports the PCMA Education Foundation and PCMA's Network for the Needy® program. PWAP will take place at the USS Midway Museum on Monday, January, 9. With the support of PWAP's many event partners and record ticket purchases, the Education Foundation is poised for a year full of landmark accomplishments.
