Well, the popular photo-sharing service Instagram is hoping to help users calculate that value with its new video feature. The tool will give iPhone and Android smartphone owners the ability to capture 15-second clips and share them with followers. Individual users will undoubtedly love the feature, and brands are already beginning to leverage its power. Click here to see how athletic apparel company Lulemon is already putting it to work.

For meeting planners and trade show organizers who are looking to create that don’t-you-wish-you-were-here feeling, the video feature offers promising potential. That short product tutorial on the trade show floor? A snippet of a general session audience going crazy at a surprise announcement? A clip of that live band at your evening networking event? The ability to post moments in motion can certainly help those who didn’t register recognize what they’re really missing.

The fact that Instagram is owned by Facebook certainly doesn’t hurt either. While Instagram had 100 million active users as of February 2013, Facebook is the social giant. All those videos will post to Facebook timelines, too, which will dramatically increase their reach.
