Working in close quarters with others in your department or project team members allows for easy exchanges of thoughts and ideas, not to mention you catch all the office gossip.
Working in an environment without a door gives you the opportunity to get to know your co-workers, build trust and form more meaningful relationships, although be aware of the oversharer (you know who we're talking about).
You thought you had no privacy in the cubicle, at least you aren't in an open office with zero walls. No one needs to stare at a co-worker chomping with his mouth open while trying to finish the TPS reports.
Still not convinced? How about being motivated to get out of the cubicle and into an office? That counts for something.
