08:30 – 09:30 KEYNOTE ADDRESS: EVOLVING WITH THE RAPIDLY CHANGING EURO-ECONOMIC LANDSCAPE - LCC Auditorium VII

Sony Kapoor, Managing Director of the think tank Re-Define, will share his insights on the current state of the economy in Europe and his predictions for the future.  Kapoor is deeply committed to finding a solution to the on-going economic and financial crises and his valuable perspective has been utilized by policy makers and civil society in the European Union and internationally.  He is the strategy adviser to the Systemic Risk Centre at the London School of Economics and was, until recently, also Chairman of the European Banking Authority's Stakeholder group, a Visiting Fellow at the European Commission and an Expert Adviser to the European Parliament.

  • Gain insight into the current and future state of the European economic climate

What keeps you up at night when faced with planning meetings and events in Europe? Participants will have the opportunity to discuss challenges and collaborate towards generating solutions within this highly interactive session.  The topics were taken directly from the registration form responses and sharing your experiences is a must to help your group create potential solutions.  After each round is complete the group, led by the program facilitator, will share key solution takeaways and discuss which approach they are going to adopt when faced with these challenges in the future.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Examine each of the most relevant challenges associated with doing business in Europe
  • Brainstorm through shared experiences and best practices from peers on  the best way to resolve these challenges
  • Walk away armed with the knowledge and tools to address these issues head on if you encounter them in the future

11:00 – 12:00 EURO-CULTURAL NEGOTIATIONS WORKSHOP – LCC Auditorium VII

Oscar van Weerdenburg, author and award-winning speaker will guide this workshop which focuses on key skills for negotiating effectively across cultures. You will receive practical tools to prepare and structure your negotiation approach and a clear framework for analyzing the cultural context of your negotiation. We will address the four intercultural competences that will help you to negotiate effectively across cultures. Through a series of short case studies, participants will practice dilemma reconciliation as a technique for resolving cross-cultural dilemmas. 

Learner Outcomes:

  • Adopt critical analyses practices that help define the cultural context of your negotiation
  • Examine and understand how to leverage the four intercultural competencies
  • Receive tools for cross-cultural dilemma reconciliation
