Volunteer and Community Service

Hospitality Helping Hands

Hospitality Helping Hands was created as a way for the meetings industry to give back to the community in which the PCMA Annual Meeting is held. Each year PCMA holds its Annual Meeting in a different city and tries, through Hospitality Helping Hands, to leave the community better than before the start of the Annual Meeting.

On one day prior to the PCMA Annual Meeting, attendees have the opportunity to participate in "hands-on" community service projects. Each person involved pays a "participation fee" and works side-by-side with other attendees to help the chosen charity. In addition to a unique networking opportunity, each attendee receives the satisfaction of helping out the community. The entire participation fee will go directly to the local organization(s) involved in Hospitality Helping Hands in a given year.

Upcoming Projects:

For the 2011 Convening Leaders (January 9 - 11, 2011) meeting, PCMA volunteers will take part in two projects in Las Vegas.

U.S. VETS
The goal of U.S. VETS' program is to get homeless veterans off the streets and help them reach their highest level of independence. U.S. VETS - Las Vegas has created a continuum of care including employment assistance, sobriety support, counseling, and transitional housing so veterans can seamlessly progress from one stage to the next, receiving the assistance they need to improve their lives. Hospitality Helping Volunteers will assist in a painting project to beautify U.S. Vets housing facilities and reception areas. Participant's entire $75USD registration fee will go directly to U.S. VETS.

Hospitality Helping Volunteers will assist in a landscaping and painting project to beautify the Women and Children Campus. Participant's entire $75USD registration fee will go directly to WestCare Women and Children Campus.
