Sharon DelaBarre has more than 18 years of experience as an independent planner. She and her husband, Del, founded DelaBarre & Associates, Inc., a general management consulting company, more than 28 years ago. Over the years the meeting component has grown from approximately 20 percent of the business to above 80 percent. Focusing mainly on non-profits and government related or technology conferences and expositions, she currently manages between eight and 10 conferences and one technology trade show annually.

DelaBarre helped found the Pacific Northwest Chapter of PCMA and is still an active participant. At the international level, she was one of the founding members of the PCMA Chapter Relations Committee, serving as chair for two terms, has participated on the PCMA By-Laws Review Committee and Nominating Committee, and was the 2001 chair of the Recommended Practices Committee. Before establishing the company, she held the position of associate director with the United Way of Central California and with the Camp Fire Girls Council in Fresno, Calif.
