Did You Know

* We have followed up with some favorite Leading by Example subjects to find out what they've been up to since we last spoke with them.

Michelle
Peluso
For 35-year-old Travelocity CEO Michelle Peluso (July 2006), the pace continues to move at warp speed. "Recently, my biggest focus has been the proposed buyout of our parent company, Sabre Holdings, by the Texas Pacific Group and Silver Lake Partners. Needless to say, we are looking forward to our future as a private company," she said. She did carve three weeks out of her busy schedule this September to get married and honeymoon in Bora Bora with her husband Marc. "It was amazing. Yes, I left my BlackBerry at home ... although I did check in with the team occasionally!" * It's been an exciting time at Travelocity, the globe-trotting Peluso said. "I've been very focused on our global presence. I flew to London on several occasions to see our lastminute.com team and assist with the integration of our European business." When we spoke to Peluso, she was about to head out to Hawaii to meet with Travelocity partners and then to Asia-Pacific to check in with the team there on the launch of Travelocity in India as well as to review Travelocity's operations across Asia. "The travel is intense at times," she admitted, "but I never get tired of meeting the people that make Travelocity the best team in travel."

Liz Lange
of the multimillion-dollar maternity clothes company that bears her name (April 2006) says that this spring she will be launching a shoe partnership with Delman shoes. She is working on two line extensions for Target (in the mommy and baby area but the deal is too confidential to release any more details). She is still very busy running the business and of course "running" her family. She was recently featured on American Express's Evening on Broadway series where Mario Batali, the Blue Man Group founders, and Lange answered questions and spoke to the audience about "standing out in a crowd" and building a brand. It was podcast around the world, aired on Fox network, is available at www.americanexpress.com, and will soon be on iTunes.

Gayle Martz
president of Sherpa's Pet Trading Company, (December 2005) has a book in the works: No Pet Left Behind: The Sherpa Guide to Traveling With Your Best Friend. "I've wanted to share my wisdom about traveling with pets for a long time. It's so important to keep your pets safe and secure when you're bringing them along for the ride," she said. She will include information on traveling in the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world, as well as information on pet IDs, vaccinations, feeding, and even brushing your pet. She hopes to get it to the publishers by the end of the summer.
