Utah
An Ideal Fit for Associations
With world-class facili- ties and unrivaled recreational options, Utah is ideal for association meetings and conventions. And with the help of "Meet In Utah," selecting the ideal region of this diverse state is easy for planners, whether their group desires adventure, luxury, cultural events, a downtown, or just about anything else you can think of in a mountain, metropolitan, or red rock setting.
A first of its kind program for the state, "Meet In Utah" is a statewide cooperative program with seven of Utah's premier meeting destinations. These destinations are working together to promote Utah as the place for meetings and conventions of all sizes and needs. Utah is honored to host the 2009 MPI World Education Conference, being held July 11 to 14 in Salt Lake. As with the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, the entire state is anticipating the opportunity to showcase its many rich, colorful, and expansive offerings in the meetings market, from the stunningly beautiful red rock landscape in Southern Utah to the towering and majestic mountains of Northern Utah.
First-time visitors to Utah during the 2009 MPI World Education Congress will undoubtedly return home with a new appreciation of this great state as the ideal meeting destination. Meanwhile, planners who are familiar with Utah are certain to gain a renewed enthusiasm for this distinctive state as a meeting destination, with endless activities, depth of cultural arts, excellent dining and nightlife, and rich history.
Regardless of where your group holds its meeting, attendees can easily experience much, if not all, of the many incredibly diverse recreational opportunities available in Utah. Whether it's skiing or snowboarding on The Greatest Snow On Earth at one of Utah's 13 world-class resorts, exploring any one of the state's 21 national and state parks, river-running the wild waters of the Green or Colorado rivers, hiking or mountain biking the famed trails throughout the state, or fishing the lakes and streams, it's literally all within a short drive of your meeting.
If it's cultural arts your group is looking for, Salt Lake, Ogden, and Park City in the northern part of the state offer a wide variety of live theater, excellent concerts, hundreds of art galleries and some of the finest museums in the West, if not the entire nation. Southern Utah's Cedar City hosts the annual Utah Shakespearean Festival, while St. George, gateway to Zion National Park, is home to a number of both indoor and outdoor theaters offering live performances.
What's more, whether your group requires a conference center able to accommodate 20,000-plus attendees or a mountain retreat for 50, Utah is sure to have it in its varied mountain, metro, and red rock mix of destinations.
The "Meet In Utah" cooperative program is able to satisfy the needs of all groups, tailoring its recommendations to fit specific requirements in terms of meeting facilities, accommodations, and transportation, to the endless variety of activities that range from the great outdoors to dining and shopping to fascinating and rich historical tours.
