How PCMA Will Give Back to New Orleans at the Annual Meeting

Hospitality Helping Hands
(expanded to 500 attendees)

The entire $75 participation fee will go directly to the local organizations. Community-service projects (half-day or full- day) on Saturday, Jan. 10, and Sunday, Jan.11, include St. Bernard Project, City Park, and Save our Cemeteries.

St. Bernard Project - Assist in painting, spackling, and rebuilding sections of houses affected by Katrina. Scheduled Saturday, Jan. 10: 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

City Park - Help beautify areas of the park by trimming, clearing, gathering, and planting; all essential for the recovery of the park and New Orleans' rebirth. Scheduled Saturday, Jan. 10: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. or 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Save our Cemeteries - Help landscape the historic tomb areas that are a special and unique part of New Orleans heritage. Scheduled: Sunday, Jan. 11: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. or 12 p.m.-4 p.m.

Party With a Purpose

Proceeds from this event benefit Payton's Play it Forward, a New Orleans-based non-profit started by Saints Head Coach Sean Payton and his wife, Beth, dedicated to improving the lives of families and children in the areas of health, education, and social welfare. Party With a Purpose has raised more than $1.6 million for charities over its 16-year history. Buy tickets at pcma2009.org and join your colleagues at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Monday, Jan. 12, where The Spazmatics '80s band will help you dance the night away.

Donation Drive
PCMA's Network for the Needy program will be collecting items for Better World Books at the meeting. Attendees are encouraged to donate the following:

  • Books with an ISBN or barcode on a book's back cover or inside a paperback's front cover.
  • DVDs, music CDs and books on CD with original artwork and casing
  • Software that has not been opened
  • Gently used children's books - no ISBN required
  • Textbooks that were published within the past three years

Proceeds from the sale of these books will benefit the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. All libraries were affected during the storms of 2005.

Gulf Coast Wetlands

For each $20 donated to the PCMA Education Foundation, a portion of your contribution will support the Gulf Coast Wetlands Restoration Project, which is on a mission to reduce shoreline erosion along the Gulf Coast through aggressive planting in the region. Support your industry and the area with your donations.
