What Really is the Hospitality Industry? Students who attend the Greater Midwest Chapter PCMA Student Program on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the NIU Naperville Campus will hear presentations designed to answer this question. Click here to register.

After the welcome message at 10 a.m., several students will be selected randomly to participate in the game show entitled “What Really is the Hospitality Industry?” The Student Membership Committee has planned this portion of the program to address industry segments such as national hotel sales, convention bureaus, decorators/registration companies/other industry suppliers, association management.

Breakout sessions with industry experts will follow. Topics include hotel sales and convention service management (CSM), convention bureaus sales and CSM, associations/corporate, decorator, and technology and trends. Lunch with an overview of PCMA will follow the breakouts.

During the afternoon sessions, industry professionals will update the students on technology and trends and the audience will participate in a polling session on industry resources. Human resource specialists will explain laws on internships/externships, provide useful tips, and feature their management trainee programs. For recent graduates, experts will provide guidance on how to get a job.

The Power Networking Fair is one of the afternoon’s highlights. During this portion of the program, students will have the chance to network with Industry veterans. The final event is an invitation-only roundtable session for student chapter officers. The program will adjourn at 5 p.m.

Greater Midwest Chapter
