A Message from the President...

The PCMA POWER Chapter has gone through some changes this year within our leadership. In January Michele Sawka accepted the position as President of the Chapter and was eager to move our Chapter forward through 2011. Fortunately for Michele, but unfortunately for POWER, Michele had the opportunity to advance her career in North Carolina and accepted that opportunity. After much consideration Michele thought that it would be in the best interest of the Chapter, as well as her career, that she resigned as President of the Chapter.

Being the President-Elect for 2011, I agreed to accept the challenge of being Chapter President, earlier than we all thought. I would to thank the members of the POWER Chapter, especially the Chapter Board of Directors for believing in my leadership abilities and giving me the honor and privilege of being your Chapter President beginning in 2011. The support and guidance that I received from past and present chapter board members and PCMA HQ helped me tremendously as I began the early transition. I am forever grateful for their knowledge and passion for PCMA, POWER and the industry as a whole.

This fall is shaping up to be a great season of wonderful education and networking opportunities! The Education Committee has planned innovative and exciting programs in Columbus, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. I hope you will be able to attend one or more of these exciting programs, where we will be hosting industry experts at an affordable price. Also those of you who are working towards achieving or renewing your industry certifications will be happy to know all of our programs this year will be offering continuing education credits (CEU's).

As the fall season arrives, PCMA and POWER are busy planning for 2012. A call for volunteers is on the horizon. The Chapter is currently looking for members to step-up to leadership positions within the Chapter. If a leadership position does not fit into your plans for 2012, I hope you will consider a greater involvement in the POWER Chapter by becoming a member of a committee. From writing an article for the chapter e-newsletter to planning a chapter program, there are many volunteer opportunities available based on the amount of time you can offer. In my experience, this is the best way to make contacts, learn new things, and just get the most out of your PCMA membership.
